We knew that the 2016 Shelby GT350 Mustang produces one of the most exhilarating engine noises money can buy, but what we didn’t know was how it drives.
Matt Farah from The Smoking Tire is one of the first auto journalists to drive the car with the most powerful naturally aspirated road-going engine in Ford history (526hp) as well as the highest-revving production V8 ever built by the company (redline at 8,250 rpm).
Although he drove it on a wet Lime Rock circuit for only two laps, it was enough for the GT350 to make a powerful impression on Farah. The revs seem like they never end, but the GT350 really comes alive above 6,000 rpm. The steering offers good feedback and the noise is just incredible.
Sadly, Ford only let Farah out for two laps with the traction control on because the track was damp so we’ll have to wait for a proper assessment. It seems it was great fun, though.
