Peugeot UK announced the specs and full pricing of the upcoming 308 GTi ‘by Peugeot Sport’.

The iconic GTi badge is returning to a Peugeot of this segment for the first time since the 1990s and the 306 GTi, with the new model challenging cars like the Golf GTI and the Seat Leon Cupra.

The new Peugeot 308 GTi is powered by a turbocharged 1.6-litre THP petrol engine which is offered in two different power guises, 250hp and 270hp. Peugeot says that both versions weigh in just 1205kg which gives them one of the best power-to-weight ratios in the segment, 4.82kg/hp for the GTi 250 and 4.46kg/hp for the GTi 270.

The base 308 GTi 250 model sprints from zero to 62mph (0-100km/h) in 6.2 seconds while the more powerful 270 model scores 6.0 seconds flat for the same procedure. Both of them are limited to a 155mph top speed. Peugeot also claims best-in-class environmental figures too; a combined 47.0mpg UK fuel economy and CO2 emissions of just 139g/km.

Apart from the added power, the 308 GTi 270 also features a Torsen limited-slip differential, lighter 19in wheels shod with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, larger front brakes and leather-Alcantara bucket seats as standard. GTi 270 Customers can also select the exclusive two-tone ‘Coupe Franche’ paint job which combines Nera Black with contrasting Ultimate Red for £1,300.

The new Peugeot 308 GTi 250 is priced at £26,555 on the road with the GTi 270 asking for £28,155. The first deliveries are expected to commence at November 5th in the UK market.
