This may or may not be a China-centric version of Mercedes’s all-new E-Class, as the PRC is known to prefer long-wheelbase executive saloons. It was spotted testing in Germany in camouflaged prototype form, but the extra length is obvious.
The current model already has a stretched variant for China, and it’s 14 cm or just under 6 inches longer than the standard one. This means it approaches the S-Class in terms of length, although it’s still a bit shorter than it.
Taking a look at the example caught on video by walkoART, it’s clear the same formula has been applied on the new model. The rear door is clearly longer, with noticeably more glass than the standard-wheelbase car.
It too will probably be exclusively destined for the Chinese market, as it would probably rival the S-Class for size and impression but at a lower price. The chance of seeing it outside the People’s Republic are slim, especially now that it will very closely mirror the styling of the flagship sedan.
