The new Mini Clubman is the company’s largest model to date, and that’s because it targets young families looking for a premium yet practical model.
Mini says that the new Clubman is also the most refined model they have produced, offering 360 liters of luggage space with the rear seats in place and 1250 liters with them folded down. Based on the same architecture with the Mini hatch, the Clubman is 270mm (10.6in) longer and 90mm (3.5in) wider than the regular five-door Mini, featuring a 100mm (3.9in) longer wheelbase too.
Auto Express mag reviews the six-door Mini Clubman in manual Cooper S trim, which uses the same turbocharged 192hp 2-litre petrol engine with the ‘regular’ Mini Cooper S. With more space, refinement and practicality, the new Clubman looks like one of the most complete yet controversial models Mini currently makes.
Chances are that Mini will sell way more Clubmans than before as it looks like the quirks of its predecessor have been dealt with and if it indeed drives like the smaller hatch, the new model will deserve all the praises it can handle.
