You may have heard that Meadow Walker, the 16-year-old daughter of late Paul Walker, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Porsche. Well, the car manufacturer responded. Sort of…

The girl’s lawyers accused the German car manufacturer of negligence, stating that the Porsche Carrera GT – in which the crash occurred – lacked safety feature that could have prevented the horrendous event and that its designs flaws caused Paul to become trapped in the car, which caught fire following the collision.

Since the lawsuit has been filled, Calvin Kim with Porsche Cars North America has issued a statement, according to CNN, saying:

“As we have said before, we are very sad whenever anyone is hurt in a Porsche vehicle, but we believe the authorities’ reports in this case clearly establish that this tragic crash resulted from reckless driving and excessive speed.”

Nonetheless, a previous investigation conducted by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, stated that the Porsche’s speed was the major factor that caused the crash and the star’s death, as the car was traveling between 80 and 93 mph (128 – 149 km/h) at the time of the impact.

According to the same news network, Walker’s attorney, Jeff Milam, said in a statement that: “The bottom line is that the Porsche Carrera GT is a dangerous car. It doesn’t belong on the street.”
