Reviews of Ferrari’s new drop-top, the 488 Spider, have started to arrive and there’s a slight chance 488 GTB owners may not be thrilled to watch them.

With the retractable hard top down the two passengers can hear the sound of the 660hp twin-turbocharged V8 better, which is a good thing according to Auto Express’ James Disdale.

While some people have criticized the 488 GTB’s engine noise for being less spectacular than the 458 Italia’s, the reviewer didn’t have anything to complain about – obviously, keeping the roof down intensifies the audio experience.

In terms of handling, the 488 Spider feels just as sharp as the 488 GTB and equally mental when it comes to performance. Who could complain about a 0-100 km/h sprint of 3 seconds or 0-200 km/h sprint of 8.7 seconds? One would have to love coupes too much to buy the 488 GTB over its drop-top sibling.
