While new-generation Audis such as the Q7 and A4 have these more or less ‘love it or be indifferent to it’ looks, that doesn’t mean that fans of the brand will shy away from becoming customers.
So if you’re thinking sales, then imagine the all-new Q5 as simply yet another stepping stone for Audi. As a practical and successful compact SUV, the Q5 has always been hard to criticize from a technical perspective. The 2016-2017 model will feature even more tech, which should boost its desirability in the eyes of customers who haven’t made up their minds yet.
Speaking of tech, we can expect Matrix LEDs, air suspension, Virtual Cockpit and plenty of other goodies on the new Q5, which might just make you appreciate more than you would based simply on its evolutionary design.
And yes, this may just be the most plausible rendering we’ve seen of the new Q5, even featuring the slightly curved mid-section line, both at the front and at the rear. Other than that, the car looks pretty straight-forward, as we don’t expect any surprises once the camouflage comes off the real thing.
The production model will also weigh a lot less (presumably 100 kg) than the current generation, which means that it should be highly competitive in its segment as far as fuel economy and performance is concerned.
Once the competition starts, the Mercedes-Benz GLE and BMW X3, as well as the Jaguar F-Pace will all line up to give the Audi Q5 a piece of their minds. Unfortunately we’re still several months away from finding out everything there is to know about this car.
