We can’t just get enough of classic 911s.

We already presented 7 of the 57 high-quality Porsches that are destined for the auction block at Silverstone Auctions’ Porsche-only event on Sunday 25 October. Now, we do realize that each one is special – with its own unique story to tell – but we cannot feature all of them. Still, here’s a couple more…

With the modernization of the new 911 line-up, the simple, air-cooled Porsches are slowly growing a cult even bigger than before. Paradoxically, Porsche die-hard fans aren’t quite as fond of new technology and diverse experiments as the German car manufacturer is – which makes classic 911s fetch substantial prices between aficionados.

So, don’t expect for these two beauties to come cheap, especially as both of them are the best example of “they don’t build them like they used to anymore”. The cars were thoroughly restored in 2014 to celebrate and reflect the very best of Porsche’s 50 years of 911 development and evolution.

The red example is a 1981 911 “930” Turbo, which was found lying in a garage for more than 15 years. The automobile was restored by “Porsche Classic Restoration Centre” to an exceptional standard. Although the car’s engine and brakes were rebuilt, it still retains mainly of its original parts, and that’s why it has a guide price of £100,000 – £115,000 ($154,655 – $177,853).

But the one-off 1977 “Project 50” is the car you’d want. Painted in Viper Green, this 911 started life as a 911 Lux model, which was converted by Porsche Central Operations in a “911 RS” to celebrate 50 years of…well, Porsche. It has a 993 engine in it, with Cup cams and Wolf management system, which develops “just over 300 hp”. Of course, its gearbox and powertrain components were tweaked too, in order to handle the extra oomph.

The power to weight ratio is equivalent to a race-spec 1974 Porsche RSR, but at “only” £125,000 – £150,000 ($193,318 – $231,982) its half the price of the original. A reasonable amount, considering that the number of hours spent on creating and crafting this vehicle can’t even be calculated – according to its seller.

In fact, not matter for which one of the cars you’d go for, you can’t lose.
