Only a few days separate us from the world debut of Toyota’s S-FR Concept at the Tokyo Motor Show.

But while the automaker chose to showcase the car as a coupe, many people wondered what the S-FR would look like without a roof, since the study has a very similar footprint to the Mazda MX-5.

Fortunately, we don’t have work our imagination too hard as Photoshop manipulator Theophilus Chin has already chopped the roof off the S-FR (virtually), turning it into a roadster.

Before we let you decide if the Toyota S-FR roadster can make a worthy Mazda MX-5 rival from a styling point of view, you must know that the production model is expected to feature a similar powertrain as the base Miata.

The S-FR will reportedly be powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Rated at around 130hp, the engine should give the S-FR decent performance, considering that the small sports car will weigh under one tonne.
