This bond between man and machine reminds us that you don’t have to own a sports car to be thrilled behind the wheel.
The Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 was built to do many things that seem irrelevant these days, like to be easily repaired, have extraordinary off-road capabilities and be dependable at the same time.
You won’t find any creature comforts in here, apart from the heater and the fact that the seats are padded as Josh Commons perfectly describes to Petrolicious for their latest video. Family owned since 1992, Josh sold the car to his sister who sold it to their parents before returning to his hands.
“I’ve owned it long enough to go full cycle to where the brakes and the wheel cylinders wore out and needed to be rebuilt,” Commons says. “You’re turning the same screw you turned 20 years ago. It’s kind of special.”
Honest, reliable, tough off-roaders like this are becoming rarer by the day and certainly deserve all the love they can find.
