It turns out that all you need to trick GM’s Onstar service is a Camaro Z28 on HP650 steroids, as John Hennessey himself demonstrates in this promo video.
The founder of Hennessey Performance took a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 fitted with the HPE650 engine upgrade out on the track for some testing when the Onstar service gave him a call asking if everything is ok. “I think I was pulling too many G’s in this bad boy” John Hennessey responded.
The HPE650 engine upgrade brings the power up to around 570hp at the wheels and around 670hp at the crank with the use of a supercharger on the 7.0-litre LS2 V8 engine, boosting the Chevrolet Camaro Z28 into much higher performance levels.
The purest, track-ready version of the Camaro was already one of the most exciting sports cars, gaining universal appraisal for its focused chassis dynamics and the character of its monstrous drivetrain. Adding a supercharger has made it only angrier, with the rumble forcing the hairs on the back of your neck to stand up and stay there.
Who needs supercars anyway?
