This is one of the most creative publicity stunts we’ve seen lately. It’s a known fact that electricity plays a dominant role for most LM P1 racecars, Toyota’s TS040 Hybrid included.
So Toyota Gazoo Racing thought of an unusual way to make people aware of the amount of electricity produced by a TS040 Hybrid during a lap of the famous Circuit de la Sarthe in Le Mans.
As you probably know, hybrid race cars like the Toyota TS040 Hybrid produce electricity during braking through brake energy recuperation systems. That energy is then stored in batteries and released when the driver needs all the power he can get – for example during overtaking.
Toyota Gazoo Racing put that energy to good use and managed to make 171 people really excited about the technology by using the TS040 Hybrid to prepare them breakfast over a simulated lap of Le Mans. I know it sounds strange, but the following video will explain it all.
