If there’s one color intricately linked to the Chrysler group, that’s Plum Crazy, and now, a similar shade named “Xtreme Purple” is being offered on Jeep’s new Wrangler Backcountry.
The Backcountry will be the only model in the Wrangler’s lineup available in Xtreme Purple, though, if you find it a tad eccentric, Jeep will give you the option of four regular shades, including Hydro Blue, Black, Bright White and Granite Crystal.
Based on the Wrangler Sahara model, the Backcountry supposedly sports a “winter capability theme”, which on the outside, translates into front fender and rear quarter panel decals, unique off-road front and rear powder coated bumpers, 17-inch wheels in mid-gloss black, and Rubicon rock rails or alternatively, Sahara side steps as a no-cost option. The Backcountry comes with a standard black hard-top, but an optional body color hard top will be available.
As for the interior, the Wrangler Backcountry gets Piano Black vent rings, door handles and grab handles, a vinyl-wrapped console lid and door armrests with Diesel Gray accent stitching, black McKinley leather seat bolsters with black sport mesh inserts, a nine-speaker Alpine sound system and all-weather slush mats.
We’ll see the new Wrangler model for the first time at next week’s LA Auto Show, with prices to be announced.
