The 2016 Nissan Titan XD went into production at the Canton, Mississippi, facility and it will reach dealers nationwide in late 2015.
The first model to roll off the assembly line is a Titan XD Platinum Reserve, with a Forged Copper exterior, which was driven out by Jose Munoz, the Nissan executive VP, and by Phil Bryant, Mississippi Governor, during a special ceremony held at the plant.
“It has been a long, hard journey getting to today and I want to express my appreciation to the entire TITAN XD team. And now, the real hard work begins right here on this production line – delivering the promise of innovation and excitement designed into the new TITAN to our customers”, said Munoz.
The 2016 Nissan Titan XD will be offered in three cab configurations, two frame sizes, five grade levels and three powertrains, including the 5.0-liter V8 turbo diesel with 310hp (314 PS), mated to a 6-speed heavy-duty Aisin automatic gearbox. The maximum towing capacity, when properly equipped, is 12,000 pounds (5.443 kg).
The Canton facility has more than 6,000 employers and it covers 4.2-million square feet. The plant originally opened in May, 2003, and the models assembled here, besides the Titan XD, are the Altima, Armada, Frontier, NV Cargo Van, NV Passenger Van and Murano.
