If you weren’t convinced from prior camouflaged testers that the new C-Class Convertible will get a folding soft top, then these spy shots will put those doubts to rest.
You could call the open-top version of the C-Class the…poor man’s S-Class Convertible, with the two models sharing similar lines and seating for four passengers. If you want to make yourself feel better for not having enough cash in the bank to go for the S-Class variant, you’ll be happy to know that the two cars also share Mercedes’ new modular MRA platform architecture.
The fourth model in the new C-Class range after the saloon, Estate and more recently, the Coupe upon which it is based, will be offered with a similar mix of eight and six-cylinder gasoline and four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines.
North America will likely get the Convertible in three flavors, including the C300 with a 245PS (242hp) 2.0-liter turbo, the C450 with a 367PS (362hp) bi-turbo V6 and later on, the hot C63 AMG sporting a 476PS (469hp) twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 in base trim and 510PS (503hp) in ‘S’ guise.
We should see the first convertible version of the C-Class arriving next summer.
