One of Murphy’s laws says that “If something can go wrong, it will”. Tie this to an insanely fast car, a day at the air field and an amateur video, and you get the picture.
This 3,000 HP Corvette was brought to Texas for the WannaGOFAST half-mile event, along with a less-powerful sibling, with “only” 1,600 HP. The two street-legal machines were modified by Kelly Bise and KP Racing and have twin-turbo setups.
Needless to say that, the hotter version captured everyone’s attention, for two reasons: first, thanks to its amazing performance and second, due to an unfortunate incident that led to a crash.
The footage shows the beast accelerating and just when it seems that it’s about to complete its half-mile run, things start to go bad. The Corvette loses grip, slides and even jumps a bit when its wheels hit the grass. However, the driver’s reflexes kick in and, combined with a lot of luck, he manages to escape the unpleasant situation.
The Corvette was traveling so fast when it started sliding that its parachute was ripped off. Things could have quickly turned from bad to worse, but in the end, no one was injured.
