We’ve known for a while now that Audi is readying a TT RS, but these manufacturer patent drawings shed some light to the high-performance model’s aesthetics.
The design applications were filed in September, so they’re likely showing the end product that’s rumored to make its world premiere at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show next March.
From what we see here, Audi is keeping a…low profile-look for the top version of its third generation TT giving it a new front bumper with enlarged corner air vents and a new rear apron and diffuser combo with the RS sub-brand’s signature twin oval pipes incorporated within.
Two details worth mentioning are the front grille, which on the production car should carry a honeycomb insert instead of the regular one seen here, and the twin horizontal lines above the grille on the hood, which could point to additional venting for the engine – for what it’s worth, the tester we spied last month, had this section covered up.
There are still conflicting reports on what will power the top model in the TT’s range, with some suggesting it will come with an improved version of the latest RS3 Sportback’s 2.5-liter turbo’d inline-five producing 370hp in regular trim and 400hp or more in Plus guise, and others that it will get the VW Group’s new 2.0-liter turbo four previewed on the 414hp (420PS)2014 TT Quattro Sport Concept and set to power the VW Golf R400.
