For decades, BMW’s motorcycle division keeps bike manufacturing compliant with the latest technology and building expertise.
The company is taking its bikes as serious as its cars, and this reflects in BMW Motorrad’s commitment to offer extraordinary and innovative two wheeled vehicles. Apart from the wide-array of production motorcycles, the Bavarian marque also concentrates in developing jaw-dropping, cool concepts, and this is the latest one.
Called the eRR, it’s an experimental vehicle created as a project with the Technical University of Munich, and embodies the idea of an electric-powered supersport motorcycle. So, if the name didn’t gave you a hint, then its visual similarities with the S 1000 RR probably did, as the eRR is an electric alternative to the super-bike.
Basically, the concept leans on the S 1000 RR regarding design and chassis technology – as BMW puts it – but it uses an all-electric drive. The company isn’t at it’ first electric-powered two-wheeler, as BMW developed the C Evolution scooter alongside the i3 and its revolutionary technology, proving that capable motorcycles and zero-emissions can work hand in hand.
In other words, the eRR is simply the next step which showcases the possibilities of an all-electric drive in motorcycles, as Stephan Schaller, Head of BMW Motorrad, explains:
“We asked ourselves: What happens when combining a sport motorcycle and an electric drive? The experimental vehicle eRR brings the topic zero emission and electric drive on a new, more fascinating level.”
BMW says it will announce technical details of the eRR on a later date, but we can expect blistering performance from the eRR, especially if we’re talking about acceleration.
