Chevrolet is displaying quite an impressive line-up of custom machines at the SEMA 2015 Show, and this full-size Silverado 3500HD is included that list.

So, what’s so special about it, aside from the liberal use of chrome and the obvious American flag on its sides? Well, the massive truck was apparently inspired by American singer, Kid Rock’s “Born Free” song that celebrates freedom and honors American workers. And yes, this is probably the most American thing you’ll see this week.

Mr. Rock visited the Silverado HD assembly plant to meet with the members of UAW Local 598 (the guys who built the truck), before taking it to Chevy’s design studio to share some “blue-collar”-inspired ideas for its customization program, as he describes:

“The Flint plant – and everyone on the line – is the backbone of America. I wanted the design for the truck to be bold, but with features and elements that wouldn’t be out of reach for working-class guys.”

So, that explains the truck’s patriotic motif, which includes 22-inch custom chrome wheels, a custom-chrome grille, tinted windows, chrome assist steps, chrome exhaust pipes, a spray-in bedliner and a black metallic-flecked paint. Governed by the massive blackened Chevrolet bowtie emblem, and sporting “Born Free” logos and “Kid Rock” decals, the Silverado looks very imposing, to say the least.

According to Chevrolet, the interior of the truck further reflects Kid Rock’s expressive style, and it features unique Sky Cool Gray leather-appointed seats (with metallic-appearing inserts patterned after acid-wash jeans), and a blackened-out instrument panel with silver trim.

The Silverado was matched with a pair of Gibbs Sports Quadskis, which convert from all-terrain vehicles to personal watercrafts, to further emphasize Kid Rock’s “freedom motif” and the truck’s trailering capabilities. Mind you, the Duramax 6.6L turbo-diesel engine, that boasts 397 horsepower and a massive 795 lb-ft (1077 Nm) of torque figure, can handle more than two Quadskies, as the truck has a trailering rating of 20,000 pounds (9,072 kg) and 22,600 pounds (10,251 kg) with a fifth-wheel or gooseneck hitch.

“This truck is all about celebrating the people who build it and the freedom it enables. Visiting the Silverado factory was one of the coolest and most meaningful things I’ve done,” concluded Kid Rock, and it’s not that hard to believe him.
