If the carbon fiber package offered by Mercedes for the AMG GT S isn’t enough to satisfy the composite material lover in you, then you must check out Chrometec’s latest offering.
Granted, it isn’t cheaper than the $5,300 “AMG Exterior Carbon Fiber Package” option provided by the German car maker, but unlike Mercedes’ proposal, this kit offers a tad more bits and pieces for the car’s body, trying to replicate the AMG GT S Edition 1 in the process.
So, besides the “usual” CF front spoiler lip, rear diffuser, grille frame (the one with the big Mercedes logo), side fins and mirror caps, Chrometec also provides an extended front splitter with side flaps, wing flaps, lateral diffuser attachments for the rear, a fixed rear wing, and “edition 1” side-skirts.
Mind you, at about $9,404 the aftermarket visual upgrades don’t come cheap, but at least they’re aerodynamically improved, and hand made in Germany. Besides, the package may be pricier than Mercedes’ own kit for the GT S, but it’s much more reasonable than going for the original, factory-stock Edition 1 (which basically has the same visual cues).
Of course, Chrometec’s enhancements are available for the normal AMG GT as well, which misses 47 hp and 50 Nm (37 lb-ft) of torque from the 503 hp, 650 N·m (480 lb·ft), 3,982 cc (243.0 cu in) twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine on the GT S.
