Things almost went very bad for this police officer attempting to stop a stolen vehicle, when the suspect decided to ram him and his interceptor.
While pursuing a 41-year old woman, Sand Springs Police Master Patrol Officer James Matthew Stacy attempted to stop the Infiniti QX80 as it went through a school’s parking lot. Cameras mounted on the policeman’s body shows him positioning his car on the middle of the road, while trying to block the incoming SUV’s exit.
What happens next is terrifying, as the suspect accelerated the Infiniti and rammed straight into Stacy’s police cruiser, as the officer fired two gunshots while taking cover behind the vehicle’s door.
According to Tulsa World, Officer Stacy told investigators that he intended to deploy “stop sticks” in order to disable the SUV’s tires, but realized he didn’t have time and took cover behind the door of his car instead.
Although being thrown from the impact of the crash, the police officer stood up and continued the apprehension of the suspect, aiding his fellow colleague. Fortunately Stacy suffered only minor abrasions.
The woman driving the Infiniti was arrested for assault and battery with a deadly weapon on a police officer, eluding a police officer, driving under the influence of drugs, possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting arrest.
