Following an initial announcement a couple of months ago, Dacia has now launched its first ever automated manual transmission, called the Easy-R.
The gearbox underwent 130,000 hours of bench testing before being evaluated on the road, for a total of 120,000 km. It uses electro-mechanical instead of hydraulic technology, for swifter response and enhanced flexibility – always according to mother company Renault..
The Easy-R works just like a regular automatic transmission and has four modes, D (Drive), N (Neutral), R (Reverse) and M (Manual).
Dacia offers the 5-speed gearbox on the Logan MCV, Sandero and Sandero Stepway and says that it costs €600 when connected to the TCe 90 petrol engine. This happens to be the only unit available with the transmission at the time and it comes with the conventional ECO mode.
In France, the cheapest automatic Dacia is the Sandero Laureate TCe 90, which starts at €12,000. The Sandero Stepway Prestige follows at €13,200 while the Logan MCV Easy-R comes in two versions, the Laureate, from €13,000, and the Prestige, from €14,000.
