Legendary cars often spawn myths and urban legends about them, but the stories concerning the Bugatti Veyron are apparently real.
The Veyron was conceived to be the fastest and most technologically-advanced machinery of all time, and the fact that each unit sold for a lot less than its actual production cost says one or two things about Volkswagen’s commitment to create the greatest automobile in the world.
Sure, things have changed since it was launched, technology has evolved, and the Veyron isn’t the hyper-mobile it used to be, even though its maintenance cost is as high as ever.
It can still pack a punch, even compared to the latest, state-of-the-art super-machines, but it remains – and will forever be – one of the most expensive cars to own.
You might have heard that its tires – which Bugatti recommends replacing every 2500 miles (4000 km) – cost $33,000, and that after tree tire replacements, the rims also must be changed with brand-new ones. Well, that’s true, and to top it off, an oil change on the Veyron apparently costs $20,000. But we’ll let Salomondrin explain it all in the video below.
