The Fiat 500 has managed to sell no less than 1,5-million cars throughout its 8-year lifetime.
The milestone car is a 1.2 Pop model and it just rolled off the assembly line at the company’s Tychy facility, in Poland. Fiat says that in the 8 years and four months since it was introduced, the 500 managed to collect more than 40 international awards, as well as the 2008 European Car of the Year.
A facelifted version of the city car was unveiled earlier this year featuring new headlights, LED DRLs, a modified grille, slightly updated bumpers and LED taillights with a different design.The cabin adds a 5-inch Uconnect infotainment system, premium materials and more soundproofing, as Fiat says.
The engine lineup was updated as well and all units comply with the Euro6 regulations. Petrol burners include the 1.2-liter with 68hp and the 0.9-liter TwinAir two-cylinder turbo, offered in two versions, 85hp and 105hp. There is also a 1.3-liter MultiJet diesel, with 95hp. The Fiat 500 is currently sold in more than 100 countries.
