The first unit of Bentley’s brand new Bentayga SUV has just rolled off the assembly line at the company’s headquarters in Crewe, UK.
It wears an Anthracite body color and was handcrafted across 130 hours. During the assembly process, the model passed through the new bodystore, paint shop and assembly line, which were all part of the £840 million investment program.
The Bentayga “will be the benchmark against which all other SUVs are measured, defining a new segment – the luxury SUV“, said Wolfgang Durheimer, the company’s boss, who was present at the event.
Bentley didn’t say where this particular unit will be delivered, but previous reports indicate a journey to Balmoral, Scotland, where Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will use it for “hunting expeditions”.
Whether it was fitted with the exclusive £150,000 option, Mulliner Tourbillon by Breitling mechanical clock, is not known, but what we can tell you is that all Bentaygas get a 6.0-liter W12 twin-turbo engine under their hoods, with 608 PS (600 HP) and 900 Nm (663 lb-ft) of torque.
In the UK, the most affordable version of the Bentley Bentayga starts at £160,200, in Germany it costs €208,500 and in the U.S., it can be bought from $229,100.
