Ford has issued two safety recalls and one safety compliance recall in North America, involving the 2009-2010 Edge and Lincoln MKX, as well as the 2016 Mustang and E-Series.

Approximately 129,000 2009-2010 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX models are being recalled for possible corrosion under the reinforcement brackets, where the fuel tank is mounted. The issues with this is that corrosion in that area could result in anything from a fuel odor, leak or check engine light. Of course, a fuel leak could lead directly to a fire if there’s also an ignition source nearby.

At the moment, though, Ford is not aware of any accidents, injuries or fires, which resulted directly from this condition.

The affected Edge and MKX vehicles were built at Oakville Assembly Plant from Sept 11th 2008 through July 1st 2010 and were originally sold Connecticut, Delaware, DC, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia, Wisconsin, as well as the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Quebec.

A total of 128,823 vehicles might be affected in North America alone, with 110,636 units in the US and 18,187 in Canada. During the recall, Ford dealers will inspect the fuel tanks and either repair or replace it at no cost to the customer.

The second safety recall issued by Ford is for the 2016 E-Series cutaway and chassis cab models in North America over a potential trailer brake controller malfunction, where the trailer brakes do not engage when the driver presses the brake pedal – resulting in an extended braking distance.

Only 72 vehicles are suspected of being affected in North America, with 65 of them in the US and 7 in Canada.

Last but not least, Ford has also issued a safety compliance recall for certain 2016 Mustang models after finding out that restraint parts could have been damaged during shipping. The total number of cars that are being recalled is 1,900 and the main issue with this is that affected restraint parts might not conform to certain requirements for seat belt assembly performance as well as child restraint anchor systems.

Of course, if any problems are discovered during recalls, Ford dealers will replace front and rear seat belt assemblies, rear seat buckle assemblies as well as child tethers absolutely free of charge.
