To say this car is crazy is a major understatement and Hennessey just cranked the volume.

The Texan builder will unveil the updated 2016 Venom GT hypercar at the SEMA Show with even more power just to keep us more terrified. Thanks to making the twin-turbo 7.0-litre V8 able to run on E85 Flexfuel, Hennessey was able to increase boost pressure from 19psi to 26psi, sending the power figure to a total of 1451hp, 207 more than the previous version.

Hennessey want to keep the Venom GT on top of the list with the fastest hypercars, with the previous 1244hp iteration clocking a verified top speed of 270.4 mph back in 2014. HPE says that the new version will be able to clock more than 280mph and an estimated 0-60mph in 2.4 seconds, 0-100mph in 4.4 seconds, 0-200mph in 12.8 seconds and does the quarter mile in 9.4 seconds. Let these numbers sink in.

The updated Hennessey Venom GT features a special GPS-based traction control with pre-calibrated setting for certain tracks, sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires and a curb weight of just 1,244kg (2743lbs) sending its power to weight ratio into stratospheric levels.

And in case you forgot, this monster has still a manual gearbox. This is a near 1,500hp lightweight, manual hypercar made out of the same stuff nightmares are made of and is so awesome I want to cry.

“We only plan to produce a handful of Venom GTs in 2016 as we are also preparing for our next evolution, the Venom F5,” said Hennessey. “We plan to demonstrate our improved power and performance both in terms of straight line acceleration as well as road course handling and lap time performance.”

Hennessey Performance will also unveil the 774hp HPE750 Supercharged Mustang Convertible and the 650hp VelociRaptor 650 F-150 Truck next to the latest Venom GT, all of them painted in the same bright yellow paintjob.
