Pop star Justin Bieber surprised a few of his Lyft ride sharing fans, while promoting his most recent album which can now be purchased through the Lyft app itself.
All JB fans need to do is head into ‘Bieber Mode’ in the Lyft app between 9 pm PST 11/12 and 11:59 pm PST 11/19, and tap the ‘Buy & Ride’ icon. After finishing at least a $5 ride, Lyft will send you a unique download link and also credit you with $5 for your next ride.
Even though Bieber is touring the country in the next couple of days, he will be using Lyft again, so those of you who live in the US and tap on ‘Bieber Mode’ within the app whenever you need a ride somewhere, might just end up riding with the man himself.
Whether or not you’re a JB fan, you can probably appreciate what they’ve done here from a marketing stand point. Using Lyft as a promotional tool is very clever, especially since it brings so many people together. The video can be fun at times, because watching people’s reactions is always cool, much like the Lincoln Navigator they used in order to get this footage – great to have so much room when carpooling.
Also, for those of you only familiar with Uber, you might be interested to know that Lyft operates using the same principles, while also trying to differentiate themselves image-wise. The company was founded 3 years ago and has already raised over $1 billion from investors.
Lyft is also trying to appeal mostly to the young and the technologically savvy, and according to some, they’re doing a pretty good job at it.
