The new Infiniti QX30 is here and it is based on the concept car shown in Geneva earlier this year.
Its exterior design had already been leaked a few hours ago and its highlights are the double-arch grille with 3D mesh, the new front and rear bumpers, the grained side sills and the bodywork finish with satin chrome-plated inserts.
The compact crossover is the “leisure” version of the Q30 compact hatch that has been developed with Mercedes-Benz. Thus, it is based on the MFA platform that also underpins A-Class and GLA and it will compete against rivals such as the BMW X1 and the Audi Q3.
The sleek-looking crossover’s interior closely mirrors the hatchback. Its design is unique but, if you look closely, there are some bits and pieces, like the window switches, seat controls and infotainment system joystick controller, that are borrowed from Mercedes.
Infiniti didn’t provide any figures on the “diesel and gasoline engines”, despite officially pulling the wraps off the QX30 in LA and Guangzhou simultaneously, but its range will mirror that of the Q30.
The QX30 will be built at Nissan’s plant in Sunderland, England, and sales will begin “in select markets”, the US included, next summer.
