With two months still to spare in this calendar year, Porsche has already passed last year’s total in sales, with over 190,000 units delivered across the globe.
In a way, it’s like VW’s issues haven’t really taken their toll on Porsche as the German manufacturer continues on its path to success. The total of over 190,000 cars sold was achieved in the first ten months of 2015, resulting in a new record for units delivered.
In October alone, Porsche delivered 18,699 models globally, which represents an 18% year-on-year increase. However, it was the 27% global increase that really stands out here, with approximately 191,784 units – whereas in 2014 the number was 189,849.
Sales & Marketing Exec Detlev von Platen said that “The numbers prove impressively that with the diversity of its models Porsche is better geared than ever to what our customers want.”
Of course, the Macan remains the tip of the spear as far as Porsche’s current success is concerned – moving nearly 70,000 units during the first ten months of 2015.
Also in great demand is the larger Cayenne, which was handed over to more than 60,000 customers, representing a 12% jump compared to the January-October period last year. As for the 911, there were 27,281 units sold this year in the first ten months, resulting in an increase of 7% compared to 2014.
The strongest market last month was China where Porsche sold 4,950 units (+44%), followed by the US (4,070 units & +11%), while the European market grew by 11%, with 6,691 units sold. The main reason for the growth in Europe was Germany where 2,644 customers bought a Porsche last month.
