A couple of months ago, a report claimed that Bentley was deliberating between a smaller SUV and a sports car. Apparently, the British car manufacturer decided to give both projects the green light.

We’re guessing that the boom generated by the Bentayga pushed Bentley to continue its conquest among crossovers, but, at the same time, the Volkswagen-owned marque doesn’t really want to throw the acclaimed EXP 10 Speed 6 project down the bin. So, according to Autocar, the car maker confirmed it’s working on a compact SUV (“priced around $182,625″) and on a sports car as well.

Even though the EXP 10 Speed was very well received by potential customers, the first model to be produced will be the new SUV (sized between Porsche’s Cayenne and Macan models). Hold your horses, though, because that seemingly translates in about three years from now. Moreover, the British magazine reports that the vehicle could be powered by the W12, 6.0-litre mill, as well as the V8 or a diesel, especially since Wolfgang Dürheimer – Bentley CEO – stated that “It’ll be a matter of plug and play”.

The SUV is currently waiting for approval from VW’s top clerics, although Rolf Frech – engineering director – stated that the project has already reached the design and initial stage of engineering.

Speaking of Bentley models awaiting for final approval, the EXP 10 Speed 6 remains on the “to do list”, but it won’t go on sale until Bentley sorts every aspect with the small SUV
