Rolls Royce is one of the most prolific and prestigious manufacturers of high-end luxury cars, but that doesn’t mean its products are without flaw. Better yet, its product, as the British car maker issued a recall on a single unit.
BMW of North America, parent company of Rolls-Royce, filed a notice with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recently announcing a recall of a 2015 Ghost, manufactured in January 23, 2014, due to issues regarding the side window airbags.
In the report BMW mentions that the affected vehicle has thorax airbags fitted to both front seats that may fail to meet the side impact performance requirements for the occupants.
A substantially small recall compared to what we’ve seen lately, which proves that Rolls-Royce’s claim of making the “best car in the world”, coined in 1907 for the Silver Ghost, is still viable to its newer models. Well, not to this particular Ghost, obviously, but the other units rolled off the production line in Goodwood.
Naturally, the British car manufacturer will replace the faulty airbags modules on the $289,250 Ghost for free. But don’t feel sorry for the owner, because he won’t even miss the car; according to The Financial Times, the problem was identified during the customer pre-delivery check by Rolls Royce, so there wasn’t any question of a safety risks to begin with. You know you made it when Rolls Royce issues a recall just for you.
