That tasty Camaro with the LT4 powertrain wasn’t the only restomodded example Chevrolet brought to SEMA this year, as they also displayed a menacing 1967 Nova powered by a four-cylinder turbo.

Traditional muscle car fans might cringe at this story but Chevrolet Performance wanted to promote its new LTG direct-injected 2.0-litre turbo crate engine as an alternative to conventional V8 conversions.

The engine itself is rated at 272hp, offering almost the same power with the 275hp 5.3-litre V8 of the original 1967 Nova SS, giving the show car enough oomph to reach 0-60mph (96km/h) in just 6.2 seconds. Replacing the iron V8 with the all-aluminum turbo-four also gave the Nova a perfect 50-50 weight distribution while Chevy also replaced the old manual four-speeder with a modern six-speed manual.

The Black-Gold Nova 2.0L features several hot-rodding touches, including a billet aluminum grille, narrowed and tucked bumpers, shaved door handles with electronic latch releases, a set of satin bronze 17-inch custom wheels and disc brakes all-around. Suspension-wise, the Nova is equipped with height-adjustable air bags and a four-link rear setup.

What do you think? Turbo-four in a classic muscle car? The whole idea sounds just wrong but the very naughty aura that surrounds it makes this 1967 Chevrolet Nova somehow really intriguing.
