Official photos of the facelifted version of Mercedes-Benz’s SL have surfaced online, only a couple of days after the company teased the updated model.
The 2017 Mercedes-Benz SL obtains a new front fascia, which brings it closer to more recent models in its lineup. There’s a new grille, different headlights incorporating the LED DRLs which seem to have been inspired by the more expensive AMG GT, a redesigned bumper and an updated hood. The side mirrors were slightly tweaked too.
The rear end was modified with different taillights featuring all-red graphics, a revised bumper design with a new diffuser incorporating the quad-exhaust pipes on the range-topping SL63 AMG pictured here, and a small spoiler on the boot. On the AMG model, carbon fiber accents are also visible on the bumpers and side sills. Completing the roadster’s look are the new multi-spoke black wheels, wrapped in Continental ContiSportContact tires.
The cabin received a slightly larger infotainment display operated through the same joystick. There is also a new multi-function flat-bottom steering wheel, a redesigned gearshift lever and a new controller used to select driving modes such as the Individual, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Race and the visible carbon fiber on the center console.
Despite pulling the wraps off its body, we’re still in the dark about the powertrain lineup, though, some improvements are to be expected.
More info on the refreshed Mercedes SL will be announced next week, when it will debut at the 2015 LA Auto Show.
