Here’s our first real-life look at the Genesis G90, the flagship model for the Hyundai Group’s new luxury brand, which will replace the Equus.
The G90 that will be marketed as the EQ900 in Korea, was spotted without any camouflage in Spain, possibly for a photo and/or video shoot, just ahead of its official debut in early December.
The full-size luxury sedan evolves the design language found on the current Hyundai Genesis, which itself, will be rebranded as the Genesis G80, incorporating newer styling elements previewed on the Hyundai Vision G Concept.
Gone are the droopy looks of the Equus replaced with a more striking body that includes sculpted surfaces and sharper lines running through the entire length of the car, along with an edgier front end sporting swept back headlamps.
The world’s newest brand hasn’t shared any information on what will power the G90, but we suspect that Hyundai will use their existing naturally aspirated 311hp 3.8-liter V6 and 420hp 5.0-liter V8 mills, with their upcoming 3.3 liter turbocharged V6 slotting in-between.
Hyundai has said that the Genesis-branded models will initially go on sale in the Korean, Chinese, North American and Middle Eastern markets, before arriving in Europe and other parts of Asia. The North American debut of the G90 will take place next year, possibly at the New York Auto Show.
