Given that most have a hard time telling apart two different generations of Audi models, you can imagine how tough it gets with Ingolstadt’s mid-cycle facelifts. So yes, we have to go all Sherlock Holmes here to figure out what kind of styling changes Audi is planning for its soft-top A3.
Schedule for a mid-2016 launch, the updated A3 Convertible gets a subtly revised front grille inspired by the new A4 with more prominent slats, tweaked headlamps, lightly re-profiled bumpers on both ends and fresh graphics for the rear light fixtures. Audi will probably add new wheel designs and colors to the mix.
While we haven’t nabbed any photos of the interior yet, as with the facelifted A3 Sedan that we scooped last week, we expect incremental improvements in quality, an updated infotainment system incorporating the latest tech and possibly, the introduction of Audi’s Virtual Cockpit technology on higher-end models.
The current A3 Convertible’s engine line up is set to carry over unchanged, with some reports suggesting minor tweaks to improve fuel economy and CO2 emissions.
