While perhaps not being given the TV coverage it deserves, Germany’s DTM competition is one of the finest forms of motorsports anywhere in the world.
It is not only the sparring ground for the three leading premium German automakers – BMW, Audi and Mercedes-Benz – but is also home to some of the finest drivers on the planet.
For us though, it is the cars used throughout DTM which make it really special and unlike another other touring car championship. Notorious for their towering rear wings, flared wheel arches, aggressive splitters and side-exiting exhausts, DTM cars are undeniably viscous and the following, could very well be the craziest we’ve laid eyes on.
Obviously not real but rather a rendering, courtesy of rc82 workchop, it shows how the 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R would look as a DTM competitor. Outfitted with all the aerodynamic aids which make DTM cars so special, we can’t think of a better ride for the devil himself.
Of course, such a car will never become a reality but one can always dream…
