Out of all the ridiculous things people do with their cars, using a public road as their on personal amusement park has to be one of the dumbest decisions when behind the wheel.
Even though it’s not rocket science, driving a motorized vehicle does tend to require you to be relatively alert and responsible at all times. Some people do seem to have a hard time handling the responsibility and tend to have fun no matter how risky it can be for themselves or for others.
Generally speaking, what this guy is doing here isn’t all that dangerous, nor is it difficult to do in a BMW, or any other RWD car for that matter. You don’t even need to work the throttle that much considering how the snow (aka lack of traction) is making it easy for you to get that rear end moving. As long as you know what you’re doing and use the steering wheel properly, you should be OK.
Of course, this type of thing tends to look different when seen through the eyes of somebody who seems to think you’re barreling towards them out of control. OK, the guy in…what looks like an old Lada, might have overreacted.
In those types of cars, all you need to do is brake hard and pull the steering wheel to one side or another and the car will surely have trouble stopping. That might have been what happened here, or he simply just didn’t want to take any chances. Or he got unreasonably scared – who knows?
The moral of the story is, first of all, don’t mess around with your car when you’re on public roads, and second of all, don’t overreact, and drive as slow as you need to when you know your car doesn’t have any sort of electronics helping you out in case of an emergency.
