Owners of the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon will not be pleased to find out that their rides will have to be taken back to the dealers to fix a small issue.
General Motors says that the new recall affects 8,763 2016 MY vehicles, which have a problem with the compartment lid latch assembly that may fail to keep the compartment door closed in the event of the crash.
The fault may not seem that important, but the pickup trucks it means that both vehicles fail to comply with the FMVSS (Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard)Occupant Protection Interior Impact requirement number 201. This stipulates that contents stored in the console might strike the vehicle’s occupants in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury.
Owners of Colorados built between August 25 to September 24, 2015, and Canyons manufactured between August 28 to September 24, 2015, will be notified by General Motors and the company’s dealers will replace the console compartment door latch assembly free of charge.
