Launched at the Geneva show in 2013 and crossing over to the US the next year, the A3 Sedan was a big hit for Audi, instantly outselling its main rival, the Mercedes-Benz CLA.
With 2016 knocking at the door, it’s time for the usual mid-life cycle facelift of the compact premium saloon and these are the first images, taken during winter testing.
Without the camo, it could probably go unnoticed by almost all but those with an eye for detail. No surprise there: Audi’s design evolution is glacial even at brand new models, thus a mere revamp won’t consist of anything out of the ordinary.
In the profile, it’s pretty obvious that nothing has changed. At the front, the swirly wrap can’t hide the new, hexagonal “3-D” grille, sharper headlights and reshaped bumper that bring the A3 Sedan in line with the rest of the range.
The same goes for the rear, with the slim taillights being replaced by larger ones similar to those on the new A4. In fact, as a whole, the “new” A3 Sedan does look very much like a shrunk A4. That’s the Audi way…
So far, we had no chance to peek at the interior. We expect Audi to implement some minor changes, such an updated instrument binnacle and infotainment system incorporating the latest tech.
