In a reference to the Volkswagen diesel emissions scandal, a fake ad is picking at the German automaker.

It reads, “We’re sorry that we got caught” and things continue below, where it says,
Now that we’ve been caught, we’re trying to make you think we care about the environment“.

The fake advert
is part of the independent “brandalism” movement, that hijacks billboards for anti-advertising campaigns. This is just one of more than 600 fake ads that appeared in Paris, France, last week, to coincide with the UN global climate change talks.

Volkswagen was not the only company mocked, as the “initiators of the project” turned against Air France too, according to AutoNews, in a similar ad that read “Air France: Part of the problem“.

VW cars are still affected by the “dieselgate” scandal, but the automaker announced new measures last week, to the German Motor Transport Authority, for the 1.6TDI and 2.0-liter-equipped models in Europe. Towards the end of the month, Volkswagen said it will present a fix for the 1.2-liter diesel engine too, which is also involved in the “dieselgate”, while Audi, Seat and Skoda are developing similar measures for their affected cars as well.
