Fiat is re-entering the compact saloon segment in Europe, the Middle East and Africa with their new Tipo / Aegea.
Unveiled a couple of months ago, Fiat has now released a new promotional video in which the automaker details some of its standard features, while also confirming its starting price in Italy at €12,500 ($13,700).
The entry-level version comes with a 1.4-liter petrol unit, producing 95PS (94hp) and 127Nm (94lb-ft) of torque, followed by a 110PS (108hp) and 152Nm (112lb-ft) with a 1.6-liter displacement. Two diesels are also offered, including a 1.3-liter with 95PS (94hp) and a 1.6-liter with 120PS (118hp), with the latter setting its future owners back for €16,500 ($18,000).
Fiat reportedly received approximately 1,000 pre-orders for the brand new Tipo in Italy, while some 6,000 potential customers have taken it for a test drive.
The model will be produced in Turkey, at the Tofas facility in Bursa, where it will be sold as the Aegea, while in Europe, it will be known as the Tipo. The sedan won’t be the only body style offered by Fiat because a five-door hatchback is already in development and it’s expected to be joined by an estate too, sometime next year.
