The very first Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R models have started to arrive in dealerships across the United States.

Importantly, just 37 units of the new Shelby GT350R will be produced by Ford for the 2015 model year with the rest being 2016 models. Unsurprisingly, some examples are being sold by dealerships at exceptionally high premiums with one member on the Mustang6g forums saying that one example was sold in New Jersey for $40,000 over the $63,495 sticker price, making it a $100k+ track-focused muscle car.

Given how well the Shelby GT350R has been received by the automotive press and enthusiasts alike, it’s of little surprise that owners are willing to fetch out crazy amounts of money for the car. Given their exclusivity, 2015 models could prove particularly good investments.

So what does all this money get you? Well in the case of the range-topping Shelby GT350R, you get a car designed with one thing in mind; to demolish the Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 in every regard. To do so, it utilises a 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V8 engine with a flat plane crank and pumping out 526 hp. The GT350R can be distinguished from the ‘regular’ GT350 on a number of fronts, most significantly with its additional aerodynamic components and the all-carbon fibre wheels.
