With its new licensed line-up of trailers and campers, Ford seems committed to help its customers explore and discover the world around them.
After the American car manufacturer presented the Winnebago Fuse – a Class C motorhome built on the new cutaway chassis – not that long ago, Ford expands its offerings dedicated to enjoying leisure activities, becoming the first original equipment manufacturer to offer such services.
So, anyone willing to explore America’s open roads, national parks and attractions – as the service is available only stateside – now they can take the comforts of their own home on the road, as Mark Bentley, Ford Licensing manager, said:
“Exploring America is in our customers’ DNA and recreational vehicles are part of Ford’s history, so these new camping options are great for our adventurous customers. Ford is an industry leader in towing technology, so it was only natural for Ford to license its name and designs in this industry.”
The Ford-branded equipment, which includes campers, travel trailers and toy haulers, are licensed and built by Livin Lite, an Indiana-based subsidiary of Thor Industries – a company that, according to Ford, is known for using strong, lightweight aluminum alloys in its products. Mind you, the products were designed by Livin Lite alongside Ford Truck Design, as the two teams worked the past 15 months to create several “attractive recreational vehicles”.
The slide-in truck campers will be offered for 6- and 8-foot truck beds while the travel trailers and toy haulers will be offered in 22-and 24-foot lengths; both slated for 2016. Moreover, the car makers plans to add longer fifth-wheel trailers and shorter pop-up campers in the line-up.
