Ford has just announced two recalls affecting just under 10,000 cars across the United States.
The first and most significant of the two recalls affects 9,017 cars from Ford, namely certain 2013 Escape models produced between January 11 2012 and April 1 2013, and 2013-2014 Focus ST cars built from May 3 2012 to October 14 2013.
This issue concerns the possibility of the engine stalling as some of the splices in the engine wiring harness may not have enough compression. This can ultimately make the manifold absolute pressure sensor send wrong signals to the powertrain’s main control module. Starting on January 4, Ford will replace the potentially faulty crimped splices with new ones.
As for the second Ford recall, it involves 868 examples of the 2013 Explorer, Taurus, Taurus Police Interceptor, Explorer Police Utility, Flex, MKT and Lincoln MKS. Ford is requesting these models are returned to dealers due to the possibility of a fuel delivery module cracking.
