Starting January, Manfred Fitzgerald will run Genesis, the newly formed luxury brand of Hyundai.
Fitzgerald is an experienced automotive executive having served as the director of brand and design at Lamborghini for 12 years, during which he played a role in increasing its sales tenfold.
After departing, he created his own consultancy company and, all up, has about 20 years of experience in luxury car strategy and marketing.
As part of his new role with Hyundai Motor Company, Fitzgerald will be charged with all strategies for the Genesis brand, with emphasis on firm’s marketing and a number of other business operations.
The first and range-topping model within the newly-launched luxury brand is the G90, designed to rival the likes of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Audi A8 and BMW 7-Series.
It replaces the Equus and comes standard with a twin-turbo 3.3-liter V6 engine delivering 365 hp and mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Also offered for the G90 is a 3.8-liter V6 with 311 hp as well as a 419 hp, naturally-aspirated 5.0-liter V8.
