McLaren plans to roll-out a “GT variant” of the 570S in the near future, but not many details are known about the car.
The spy-shots we featured not that long ago indicate a taller roofline, reminiscent of Audi’s R8 body style, that could house additional space inside the cabin. In fact, the GT moniker that will be attached to the future vehicle’s name, undoubtedly indicates a car prone for grand touring – traveling great distances in comfort and speed.
It’s not known what purpose the additional space will serve, but Autovisie reports the 570S GT variant will have more room for extra luggage. As you know, a key feature missing from supercars is “boot space”, and you can’t make ca car suitable for long journeys without a decent compartment for some additional baggage.
Moreover, the Dutch magazine says the car could feature extra luggage space above the engine, covered by a lid that opens sideways, like on the Jaguar E-type.
The car will most likely grow a little fatter, maybe a tad over the current 1,313 kg regular 570S, but it will retain its 3.8-litre, twin-turbocharged V8, capable of producing 562bhp and 443lb (600 Nm) of torque.
Either way, we’re pretty confident the future product will be the first model of its kind in the McLaren line-up, and, subsequently, a first for the British car maker.
