After pulling the wraps off the SLC last night, Mercedes-Benz has now released the first promotional video of what is a facelifted SLK in everything but the name.
The footage highlights the range-topping version of the model, the Mercedes-AMG SLC 43 that replaces the SLK 55 AMG, featuring a new 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 engine under its hood, rated at 367PS (362hp) and 520Nm (383lb-ft) of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a new 9-speed automatic transmission.
Mercedes also shows us the new SLC 300 in the video, which is the second most powerful version of the roadster, with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit, developing 245PS (242hp) and 370Nm (lb-ft) of torque.
Outside North America, the SLK’s successor also offers the SLC 200, with a 2.0-liter turbo unit producing 184PS (181hp) and 300Nm (221lb-ft) of torque, along with the entry-level SLC 180, with a 1.6-liter, rated at 156PS (154hp) and 250Nm (184lb-ft) of torque. The most fuel-efficient version is the SLC 250d diesel, coming with 204PS (201hp) and 500Nm (369lb-ft) of torque from the 2.2-liter unit.
The world debut of the smallest roadster in the 3-pointed star’s lineup will be made at the 2016 Detroit Motor Show, in January, with sales to start next spring.
