It’s called the G90 and it’s the new full-sized executive sedan signed by Hyundai’s newborn premium brand, Genesis.

Unveiled last week in Korea, where it wears the EQ900 moniker, it’s the group’s most serious effort to date in a category ruled by cars like the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7-Series, Audi A8 and at least in North America, the Lexus LS.

It rides on a stretched platform of the 2015 Hyundai Genesis and packs a brand new 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 engine under its hood, with 365hp (370PS), connected to an 8-speed auto. The turbo unit is joined by an entry-level 3.8-liter V6 rated at 311hp (315PS), and a range-topping 5.0-liter V8, with 419hp (425PS).

Some of the goodies found inside, which are highlighted in this new video, are the 12.3-inch infotainment screen, the three-zone climate control system, 9.2-inch tablets for the rear-seat entertainment system, electrically adjustable seats wrapped in leather, wood trim, wireless charging and others.

Genesis won’t stop here as it’s already working on a stretched version, which will attempt to offer buyers an alternative (on the more affordable side) to the LWB variants of the Audi A8, BMW 7-Series, and (with a bit of a stretch) the Maybach S-Class.

The new Genesis G90 will go on sale in its local market as the EQ900, at the end of this month, before hitting global showrooms in the first half of 2016, around the same time with the long wheelbase model.
