Whether you think people should just stick to racing stock cars, the fact remains that a shot of nitrous will Fast & Furious the heck out of your ride.
That’s exactly what this clip reminds us of, the first F&F movie, when they used to hit “warp speed” once they pushed that NOS button in their cars. Sure, it was a little ridiculous, but who didn’t love that first movie? Plus, it was a way for the underdog to win in a race against a mechanically stronger opponent.
Say any of these two cars wanted to go up against a hypercar – P1, 918, whichever you want. In stock trim, they probably wouldn’t stand a chance. In fact, they would get absolutely obliterated – especially the Supra, it may as well be standing still.
This way, however, they would at least stand a chance, perhaps a very good chance of upsetting cars that otherwise would be considered borderline unbeatable.
As for how the two cars in this video compare, well, they match up pretty darn well, though the slightly lighter and more powerful Supra still has the upper hand, at least on paper. We won’t spoil the result for you, but keep in mind that the Supra is putting down over 1,000 WHP, whereas the Viper makes due with over 900 WHP and 1,288 Nm (950 lb-ft) of torque.
In the words of the great Dom Toretto, sort of, the loser of this drag race never had a chance against the winner, and probably would have never enjoyed his car again either had they raced for pink slips.
Also, blame pop culture for all the F&F references.
